Japan has finalized new grid connection rules for utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS), introducing limits on the number of connection assessments each project developer can request. The reforms, effective from August and October 2026, also require proof of land use rights for new grid connection contract applications while providing exemptions for certain existing facilities. These measures are intended to improve grid connection efficiency and reduce speculative applications.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
