Shine half a step ahead of the era as the pioneer of the PV consulting company

For nearly four decades since its establishment in 1983, RTS Corporation has been engaged in providing consulting services to support its clients in different stages of the PV industry, covering technological development, dissemination, and commercialization. With the philosophy of developing the PV industry and making PV a key energy source, our mission is to contribute to the dissemination of PV power generation through supporting the business of our clients.

Globally, “realization of a decarbonized society as a countermeasure against climate change” has become one of the megatrends. In addition, from the perspective of ensuring energy security, the introduction of renewable energy is rapidly expanding around the world. In the private sector, a number of companies are aiming to decarbonize their business activities, promoting the introduction of renewable energy. PV power generation has already become the least expensive power source in many parts of the world thanks to the progress of technological development and the establishment of a large-scale production framework, and it is rapidly spreading in emerging countries and regions such as Southeast Asia and the Middle East, as well as China, the United States, Europe, and India. Furthermore, in the transportation and industrial sectors, where decarbonization has been considered difficult so far, energy transition using green hydrogen and other sources is expected, and demand for PV as a power source for hydrogen production is expected to increase as well.

Japan has the goals of “46% reduction of greenhouse gases by 2030” and “carbon neutrality by 2050.” Toward achieving these goals, based on the Sixth Strategic Energy Plan by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the Ministry of the Environment (MoE), the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) have joined METI as the ministries responsible for the introduction of renewable energy. The PV dissemination will shift to the introduction and deployment with the combined efforts of the relevant ministries. Under the revised Law Concerning the Promotion of the Measures to Cope with Global Warming by MoE, local governments will set zones for promoting the introduction of renewable energy and the target PV installed capacity, and full-scale introduction of PV systems in public facilities, houses, and those in harmony with communities will begin. The new national goal for PV power generation is to achieve a share of 14 – 16% in the energy mix by FY 2030 by overcoming the issues of economic rationality, variable power supply, location constraints, and grid constraints, as a “responsible power source” that achieves safety, security, low cost, and stability.

The business environment for PV power generation is also diversifying. In addition to the supply-demand integrated building market based on self-consumption and the power generation business market based on electricity sales, new markets are being formed, such as installation forms that use sites in a complex manner such as farmland, water surfaces, and parking lots, as well as building-integrated PV (BIPV) systems and facilities for electric vehicles (EVs). In addition, by integrating with power storage systems, new businesses such as virtual power plants (VPPs) and aggregation services for more efficient use of PV power are emerging. As such, PV power generation will greatly broaden its range of activities.

We have an abundance of diverse experiences and knowledge that we have cultivated over many years specializing in the field of PV power generation. Taking advantage of our track record and know-how, we will continue to provide information and make proposals more effectively, support our clients’ business development with concerted efforts of our analysts, and continue to provide consulting services to produce an outcome. By supporting the further development and growth of the PV industry, we will do our utmost to help the world move toward a sustainable tomorrow.
