Japan Solar Update: No.47 (May 29 ~ June 2, 2023)
Taisei Corporation and Kaneka Corporation started to generate power through a project conducted in cooperation with the Environmental Bureau of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG), i.e. the Model project for visualizing renewable energy in TMG-owned facilities (buildingintegrated PV (BIPV) systems).
The project will be conducted from April 1, 2023 to March 2027.
The T-Green Multi Solar, a unique technology of PV systems integrated with building materials, such as windows and exterior walls, will be installed on the handrails of Tokyo International Exhibition Center (Tokyo Big Sight) in Tokyo (0.68 kW in total) and at the windows and walls of Okutama Mizu to Midori no Fureai-kan visitor center (0.39 kW in total) to visualize and showcase the technology, leading to dissemination and development of the technology in private facilities.
T-Green Multi Solar, which is in the early stages of dissemination, is installed with a total output capacity of 0.68 kW of “solid type” with no transmittance and a “see-through type” with secured transmittance on the handrail at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center (Tokyo Big Sight), and LED lighting is turned on at night powered by the generated electricity.
By visualizing the system as a showcase, it is expected to lead to the dissemination and installation at private facilities.
Location: 3-11-1, Ariake, Koto-ku, Tokyo
PV module capacity: 0.68 kW
PV module: BIPV module “T-Green Multi Solar,” see-through type and solid type PV modules, jointly developed by Taisei and Kaneka
Subsidy: Model project for visualizing renewable energy in TMG-owned facilities (Building-integrated PV (BIPV) system) Start of Operation: April 1, 2023
