Japan Solar Update: No.86 (Mar 4 ~ 8, 2024)
Continuing from the PV Blog No.85, the revised Renewable Energy Act, which is scheduled to go into effect on April 1, 2024.
<Key points>
- The charge on the power producer side will be introduced from April 2024, and part of the wheeling charge, which is now borne entirely by electricity retailers, will be borne by power producers (Total amount of the wheeling charge will remain the same)
- The charge will be set for all the power sources which are feeding electricity to the grids, except for FIT/FIP projects that are already approved and are within the purchase and provision periods as well as < 10 kW power sources which are feeding electricity to the grids
- The unit charge on the power producer side as well as the contents of a discount system, etc. are to be decided
Charge on the power producer side Will be enacted on April 1, 2024

Require power producers to bear part of the wheeling charge which is now borne entirely by electricity retailers (Total amount of wheeling charges will remain the same)
Target of the charge: Basically, all the power sources which are connected to the power grids and feeding electricity to the grids
Projects not to be charged
FIT/FIP projects that are already approved and are within the purchase and provision periods, < 10 kW power sources which are feeding electricity to the grids
