Japan Solar Update: No.87 (Mar 11 ~ 15, 2024)
The FIT and FIP prices were presented at the Procurement Price Calculation Committee for FY 2024.
<Key points>
- The proposal by committee chairperson concerning procurement price, etc. was compiled and the FIT purchase prices, etc. in FY 2025 were newly presented
- The FIT purchase price for < 10 kW PV systems is set at 15 Yen/kWh (10.2 cents/kWh), down by 1 Yen/kWh (0.68 cents/kWh) from FY 2024
- The FIT purchase price and FIP standard price for ≥10 kW rooftop PV systems were set at 11.5 Yen/kWh (7.81 cents/kWh), the prices for ground-mounted PV systems were set at 8.9 Yen/kWh (6.04 cents/kWh) for 50 – < 250 kW systems and 10 Yen/kWh (6.79 cents/kWh) for 10 – < 50 kW systems
- The amount equivalent to the charge on the power generation side for projects to be newly approved in FY 2024 and the calculation method, etc. were presented
Proposals by committee chairperson on the FIT purchase price and FIP standard price, etc.
for FY 2024 onwards
* For 10 – < 50 kW PV systems, in principle, requirements for approving power sources as locally-used power sources for self-consumption are applied
*1:For commercial PV systems, even those less than 50 kW are eligible for FIP if certain conditions are met
*2:When renewing or adding PV modules, the FIT purchase price/FIP standard price is maintained for the initial equipment, and the latest FIT purchase price/FIP standard price is applied to the increased output capacity (prices is calculated based on prorated calculation).
*3:For FIT purchase price/FIP standard price, etc. in and after FY 2024 (limited to projects newly approved in and after FY 2024), in case the maximum power received is 10 kW or more, the amount equivalent to the charge on the power generation side will be added.
The amount equivalent to the charge on the power generation side for projects
to be newly approved in FY 2024
Calculation method and formula were presented for calculating the amount equivalent to the charges on the power producer side
For kW-based charging, the amount of purchased electricity is set based on the approved output capacity and capacity factor, and then converted to a unit price per kWh. The amount by which the kW (G) to be fed to the grid on the power producer side exceeds the kW (L) under the wheeling contract on the consumer side (G-L) is charged. Accordingly, the amount obtained by multiplying the approved output capacity by the average of the G-L ratio (ratio of G-L to G) is assumed to be the output capacity subject to charging. For kWh-based charging, the national average unit price is considered.
Standard amount of reserve for demolition, etc. (≥ 10 kW PV system) etc.
10 – < 50 kW ground-mounted: 0.60 Yen/kWh (0.407 cents/kWh), ≥ 50 kW ground-mounted: 0.62 Yen/kWh (0.421 cents/kWh), ≥ 10 kW rooftop: 1.12 Yen/kWh (0.760 cents/kWh)
