Japan Solar Update: No.97 (May 20 ~ 24, 2024)
The Ministry of the Environment (MoE) of Japan has started accepting applications of various subsidies related to renewable energy, including photovoltaic power generation, under the supplementary budget projects for the FY 2023 ended in March 2024 and the budget projects for the FY 2024 ending in March 2025.
Under the “Promotion of Renewable Energy Mainstreaming and Resilience Enhancement Project by Private Enterprises” as part of the project coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), initiatives include the promotion of new methods for introducing and reducing the cost of renewable energy, such as solar power generation on buildings, utilization of new installation sites for solar power generation in communities, acceleration support for the introduction of solar power generation integrated with windows, walls (BIPV), and the development of private distribution lines from off-site to promote renewable energy procurement, along with subsidies for achieving storage parity. Additionally, support is available for solar carport projects and the installation of solar power generation facilities in agricultural land, reservoirs, and waste disposal sites.
