Chiba City of Chiba Prefecture estimated that it can achieve net zero CO2 emissions concerning electric power consumption in the city-owned facilities in FY 2026, ahead of the target year of 2030.

The city will work on the following three subjects:

1) to supply electricity generated in the new garbage disposal facility, etc. which will start operation in FY 2026 to the city-owned facilities through the transmission and distribution networks of general power transmission and distribution operators

2) to strengthen PV power generation facilities

3) to shift to the renewable energy-derived electricity menu

The city will establish a system to collectively manage electric power supply and demand and manage the electricity demand of approximately 750 city-owned facilities as well as the power generation amount in the garbage disposal facilities and PV power generation amount collectively. The city will effectively allocate the generated electricity to the city-owned facilities and optimize the electricity utilization.
