Japan Solar Update: No.139 (Mar 10 ~ 14, 2025)
JPEA announced Japan’s shipments in 2024 (Jan ~ Dec, 2024). Since there is a time lag between shipments and installations, the two figures do not necessarily match, but trends such as trends by application can be grasped.
<Key points>
-
- The Japan Photovoltaic Energy Association (JPEA) released the PV module shipment statistics in the quarter from October to December in 2024, and the annual shipments in 2024
- Total module shipments in 2024 decreased by 2% year on year (YOY) to 5,614 MW, and domestic shipments also decreased by 2% YOY to 5,578 MW
- While utility market decreased by 21% year-on-year to 1,985 MW, industrial/commercial market continued to grow significantly by 24% year-on-year to 2,238 MW, suggesting that development of non-FIT solar power generation such as PPA is progressing. This indicates that the development of non-FIT solar power such as PPA is progressing.
