Japan Solar Update: No.165 (Sept 8 ~ 12, 2025)
<Key points>
- The Japanese Photovoltaic Energy Association (JPEA) released the PV module shipment statistics for the quarter from April to June 2025
- Total module shipment was 1,280 MW, 1 10% increase year-on-year (yoy), with the domestic shipment of 1,274 MW, a significant 11% increase yoy
- By application, the shipment for residential applications increased by 26% yoy with 373 MW and the shipment for utility-scale applications largely increased by 22% yoy to 490 MW. While the shipment for commercial applications decreased by 10% yoy to 411MW, installations via PPA have increased
- Domestic shipments in the first half of the year (January to June) totaled 2,546 MW, up 1% yoy. The shipment for residential applications increased by 24% yoy to 749 MW, the shipment for commercial applications decreased by 15% yoy to 865 MW, and the shipment for utility-scale applications increased by 3% to 932 MW
