Japan Solar Update: No.200(May 11 ~ 15, 2026)

The Japanese Standards Association has launched the Standards Strategy Promotion Center (SSP) on April 1, 2026, as a core organization to lead international standardization strategies in priority fields identified by the government, including perovskite solar cells and quantum computing.

The center was established in response to a proposal by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and is responsible for formulating plans for standards development, as well as collecting information related to domestic and international standardization activities. Specifically, in line with the strategic standardization areas identified by METI such as hydrogen and ammonia and data-sharing infrastructure SSP promotes standardization activities in collaboration with relevant stakeholders across five pilot fields: perovskite solar cells, quantum computing, hydrogen and ammonia, bio-manufacturing utilizing microorganisms, and data-sharing infrastructure. In addition, it aims to develop agile strategies and advance flexible standardization efforts in a broad range of key areas.

Through these initiatives, SSP will contribute to securing market opportunities both domestically and internationally by leveraging international standards.
