Overview: In 2025, Kanagawa Prefecture selected five demonstration projects to be carried out across the prefecture in cooperation with local businesses to promote the adoption of next-generation solar cells characterized as being “thin, lightweight, and flexible.” Under the prefecture’s subsidy program for the promotion of next-generation solar cells, two-thirds of the project costs are covered through grants.


The demonstration systems are being installed in highly visible locations such as route buses, railway stations, government buildings, and commercial facilities to showcase their performance to the public.
As part of this initiative, PXP installed chalcopyrite solar cells on the windows of a connecting corridor at the Kanagawa Prefectural Government Office in December 2025.


Adjacent to them, AGC’s monocrystalline silicon see-through solar cells, marketed as Sunjoule SUDARE, have also been installed.


In 2026, PXP and Kanagawa Prefecture signed a cooperation agreement aimed at accelerating decarbonization through the social implementation of next-generation tandem solar cells. Under this agreement, a next-generation tandem solar cell combining perovskite and chalcopyrite technologies is scheduled to be installed at the same location in the future.
In addition, perovskite solar cells manufactured by EneCoat Technologies are on display on the first floor of the new Kanagawa Prefectural Government Office building.


As a result, visitors to the prefectural office can observe and compare a variety of solar cell technologies in one location. Perovskite solar cells displayed at the Kanagawa Prefectural Government Office.
